MeetBetr ("we," "us," or "the app") helps friends find a time to get together — dinner, a movie, a trip, anything. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built MeetBetr to collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
Phone number. Used to create your account and to let friends connect with you. We verify it with a one-time code via Firebase Authentication.
Display name. The first name you choose so friends recognize you.
Contacts (optional, with your permission). If you allow access to your contacts and agree to matching, we send the phone numbers in your address book to our server to check which of your contacts are already on MeetBetr, and connect you as friends. We do not upload names, photos, or other contact details — only phone numbers. Once you've agreed, MeetBetr checks again when you open the app, so friends who join later show up; turning off Contacts access for MeetBetr in iOS Settings stops it. Names from your contacts are used on your phone to show friends by the names you know them by, and never leave it.
Plan details and responses. The plans you create or are invited to (title, proposed times, location if you add one or the places put to a vote, whether it repeats) and your responses — which times (and, on a plan voting on where, which places) work for you, whether you're going, and how many people you're bringing. Guests who reply from a plan's web page share the name (and, if they add it, the phone number) they type there.
Plan chat messages. What you post in a plan's chat, with the name shown next to it.
Free times from your calendar (optional). If you choose to share when you're free, MeetBetr works out on your phone the free gaps between your commitments during waking hours for the next 90 days, and uploads only those free gaps (their start and end times) — never your busy times, event titles, locations, attendees, or any other detail. You choose who can see them in Settings → Who can see when you're free: always, ask me first, or never, for everyone or friend by friend. Choosing never, or turning off calendar access, removes your shared free gaps.
Whole days for trips (optional, off unless you turn it on). If you turn on Trip weekends · a year ahead in Settings, MeetBetr also uploads, for each day up to a year ahead, only whether that whole day is free or taken — never what's on it. Only friends you always share with can see these; someone you said yes to just once cannot. Turning it off deletes them from our server.
A starting area (optional, one plan at a time). On a plan that's finding somewhere fair for everyone to meet, you can choose to share a city-level starting area with that plan: the city's name and a point rounded to about 5 km — never your address or exact location. Anyone with that plan's link can see it, and you can remove it at any time.
Purchases. If you buy an Event Pass or Trip Pass or subscribe to MeetBetr Plus, Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID details. We receive Apple's confirmation of the purchase and store which plan a pass unlocked, when your Plus subscription runs until, and whether you've used your free big plan.
Usage counts. The date (not the time) you last opened the app, so we can count how many people use MeetBetr each week and month. We also keep daily totals — plans made, plans locked in, replies, chat messages — with no names, messages or plan details in them.
Crews. The name of each crew you save (like "Soccer team") and which of your MeetBetr friends are in it, so assistants you connect can plan with it. People in a crew who aren't on MeetBetr stay on your phone.
Notification choices. Which kinds of notification you've turned off in Settings (invites, replies, plan changes, chat), so we don't send them.
Push notification token. A device identifier used only to deliver notifications about your plans (invites, replies, changes, chat), along with which version of the app you have, so we only send notifications your version can show.
Feedback and reports. If you send feedback or report a chat message, we receive what you write (and a screenshot, if you attach one), your name and phone number, and for a report, the message, who sent it, and which plan it's on.
Information we do not collect
Your calendar's event details. MeetBetr reads your calendar on your device to work out when you're free and to add your plans to it — a hold on the times you suggest when you send a plan, and the plan itself once it's locked in. Event titles, locations, and attendees never leave your device. If you share when you're free, only free gaps (and, if you turn it on, whole-day free or taken flags) are uploaded, as described above.
Your full address book. We only ever see the phone numbers in your contacts, and only if you agree to matching — never names, photos, emails, or other contact fields. The app also reads names and birthdays on your contact cards on your phone, to show people as you've saved them and to suggest a birthday plan; those never leave your device.
Your location, beyond what you choose to share. With your permission, MeetBetr uses your location while you're using the app to show nearby places first when you search, and to set a starting area if you choose to share one. Your exact location is never stored on our server, and MeetBetr never tracks you in the background.
We do not collect advertising identifiers or browsing activity, and we do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Google Calendar and Outlook (optional)
You can connect a Google or Microsoft account in Settings → Other calendars, and a friend replying to a plan on the web can tap Check my Google Calendar. In both cases MeetBetr asks Google or Microsoft only when you're busy: for Google, the free/busy permission only; for Microsoft, only the start, end and busy status of your entries, never their titles, locations, attendees or notes. The request goes straight from your phone or browser to Google or Microsoft. The busy times stay on your device, used the same way as your phone's own calendar; they are not sent to MeetBetr's servers. Disconnect any time in Settings, or by signing out, and MeetBetr deletes its access and the busy times it kept.
MeetBetr's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
AI assistants (optional)
You can connect an AI assistant, such as Meta's Muse, to your MeetBetr at meetbetr.com/connect. You sign in with your phone number and choose what it may do: see when you and your friends are free, see your plans and who's replied, and send plans you confirm. When you ask it something, MeetBetr gives the assistant only what that answer needs: the free times your friends already share with you (start and end, never what's on anyone's calendar), your plans with their times, place and replies, and your friends' names as MeetBetr shows them to you. It never gets phone numbers, plan chats or purchases, and a plan is sent only after you confirm it. What the assistant keeps is governed by its provider's terms. MeetBetr keeps a log of each request (which assistant, which action, when) for 90 days. Disconnect any time at meetbetr.com/connect; deleting your account also ends access.
If you share your free times with a friend who connects an assistant, the assistant can see those same free windows when your friend asks it: nothing more than your friend already sees in MeetBetr.
How your information is used
We use the information above only to operate the app's core features: signing you in, connecting you with friends, finding times and places for plans, plan chats, and delivering notifications about your plans — including, if free-time nudges are on, an occasional heads-up when a friend you always share with is free the same evening as you. We do not sell your data.
How information is shared
Your display name and your responses to a plan are visible to the other people on that plan and to anyone with the plan's link. Your free gaps are visible only to the friends you've chosen — the ones you always share with, and anyone you say yes to when they ask — and your whole-day trip flags only to friends you always share with. Nobody ever sees your calendar event details. Your phone number is used to match you with friends but is not publicly displayed. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
Plan chat. Anyone with a plan's link can read and post in its chat — the people on the plan in the app, and guests replying from the plan's web page. You can delete your own messages, and the host can delete any message on their plan. You can report a message; MeetBetr gets the message, who sent it, and which plan it's on. Posts must follow our rules — no harassment, hate, or sexual or violent content. Objectionable posts are removed, and people who post them are removed from the plan.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging) to provide sign-in, store your profile, plans, and chats, and deliver push notifications. Their handling of data is governed by Google's privacy policy. Place search, addresses, and drive times come from Apple Maps, which receives the search and the area it's around, under Apple's privacy policy. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, friend connections, shared free gaps and trip days, your responses and chat messages on plans, any starting areas you shared, your notification choices and our record of your purchases, and it cancels the plans you host so their guests know they're off. Apple keeps its own record of purchases made through the App Store. Daily totals contain no personal information and are kept. If you need help, contact us at the email below.
Children
MeetBetr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
